Academic Coaching for Educational Success!

Academic Coaching for Educational Success (ACES)
Jennifer returned to Ulster County Community College after 11 years away. It had been very difficult, and when finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel, she decided it was time to go back to school. But she was frightened and insecure, and not at all sure that she could really do it.

Then Jennifer was introduced to the Academic Coaching for Educational Success (ACES) program run by the Mental Health Association. The program provided her with someone to talk to. ACES staff showed her around campus before classes started, taking her to each individual classroom, alleviating her anxieties about being late or getting lost on campus. Jennifer was afraid of failing or doing poorly, but the ACES staff offered her helpful suggestions, building her confidence and helping her find solutions.

Jennifer is proud to report that, with the help of the ACES program, she made the Dean’s List, Phi Theta Kappa Honors, graduated, and continued her studies in Dental Hygiene school.

ACES gave Jennifer that confidence that she needed to be all that she could be. Thank you ACES!
