Freshen Up Your Pantry Staples: Learn how to create balanced meals using everyday pantry staples and fresh, seasonal produce. Kristin will share her favorite pantry staples and how to use them in multiple recipes. Also, you will learn to use summer’s best seasonal produce, including tips on best produce storage practices to keep your fresh veggies beautiful for longer. In addition, the discussion will cover where and how folks are food shopping, local tips and tricks, and ideas to lessen the stress of shopping during COVID.
Kristin Kessler, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, is the Retail Registered Dietitian at ShopRite of Kingston. Kristin earned her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics at the University of Texas in Austin. Kristin has worked in nutrition communications and prior to moving to Ulster County, she led the community nutrition efforts for the Food Bank For New York City. As the Associate Director of Community Nutrition, she oversaw their nutrition policy for donated foods and nutrition education for a network of 750 food pantries and soup kitchens serving 1.4 million New Yorkers across all five boroughs. Kristin joined ShopRite of Kingston, in November 2019 after moving upstate with her husband and dog. She is thrilled to be a new member of this thriving community in the Hudson Valley, and looks forward to bringing her years of experience and expertise to Kingston, and best of all, providing free services to the community!
