Welcome Our New Board Members!

Sue Books, Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at SUNY New Paltz, has been an allocations volunteer with United Way for several years.  Through her work at the Benjamin Center, she has written discussion briefs on food insecurity and volunteerism in Ulster County and is the author of the book Poverty and Schooling in the US: Contexts and Consequences.

 

 

 

Glynis Bunt is the Senior Director – Cost, Rates and Forecasts at Central Hudson, and has been a volunteer at the United Way for over 20 years, serving as a Loaned Executive, and most recently as an allocations volunteer.  Because of her long association with United Way and her financial expertise, Glynis was unanimously approved as United Way’s Treasurer.

 

 

 

Karen Hacker is the Kingston Resource Coordinator for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and has worn a few hats at the United Way prior to her election to the board.  She began as an allocations volunteer, but shortly after, became a volunteer in our free tax preparation program.

 

 

Brittany Schatzel is the Branch Manager of the Rondout Savings Bank on Broadway, in Kingston, and an Ulster County native, attending Saugerties High School, SUNY Ulster and SUNY New Paltz.  She is also a graduate of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute.  Best of all, Brittany is our one and only millennial!
