National Disability Institute (NDI) understands the devastating impact COVID-19 will have on the financial and personal health of people with disabilities and those with chronic health conditions, as well as their families and communities. This website provides you with trusted answers to your questions, including assistance to help you manage your finances. Our partnership with LifeCents gives you access to free online financial wellness training, while AFCPE offers you free professional financial counseling. The Financial Resilience Center was developed by NDI with generous funding from the Wells Fargo Foundation.

Individuals who enroll in Qualified Health Plans through NY State of Health or directly through insurers between March 16 and April 15, 2020 will have coverage effective starting April 1, 2020. Individuals who are eligible for other NY State of Health programs – Medicaid, Essential Plan and Child Health Plus – can enroll year-round. Call 1-855-355-5777 for more information.

The American Rescue Plan, which was signed into law on March 11, 2021, will lower health care costs by providing new and expanded financial assistance to New Yorkers enrolling in health insurance through NY State of Health. Our new fact sheet and website provide more details.

For New Yorkers who are eligible for unemployment insurance for at least one week in 2021, the American Rescue Plan will allow them to sign up for a nearly free health plan through NY State of Health for coverage that lasts for all of 2021. To be eligible for this plan, consumers cannot be eligible for other health insurance such as Medicaid, Medicare, or employer-sponsored coverage. Instructions on how to apply will be added to this page on our website when available.

The Institute for Family Health offers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to patients with opioid dependence as a part of primary care. Behavioral Health treatment is also available within an integrated model. Services are currently being provided via telehealth (video and phone).

The Institute is accepting new patients.  Anyone 18 years of age and older seeking to initiate MAT at the Institute for Family Health may reach out to our Kingston-based, bi-lingual MAT Care Coordinator, Julian Mercado, at 917-359-6479.

Meditation helps us build a relationship to a place of inner quietude.
